Blurb:
“Cameron, why do you call me dove,” I asked, ready for disappointment.
“Because, you bring my soul peace.”

Joey Morris has spent her young life moving around the country with her constantly absent mother until finally ending up in the small college town of Portstown, Pennsylvania. Here history is thick in the air and Joey discovers that her family has long reaching roots in the town, dating back to the very first settlement. Because of her heritage she is welcomed into the group of the other founding families, and quickly becomes one of the popular girls in school.

After over a year of the good life and Homecoming just days away, Joey is thrown into a terrifying new reality. Happening across a violent black dog with glowing red eyes, and a handsome stranger that puts his life on the line to save her only to stick a gun in her chest moments later.

Now people are dying in Portstown, people close to Joey and she doesn’t understand why. Will Joey have anyone left after she discovers the truth about her past?

Cameron Davis is a man from another life, for years he has been focused on his mission. The drive that keeps his soul locked inside a physical body, staving off the reaper. That all changes when he is given the task of protecting Joey and stopping the attacks.

This girl makes him weak and brings up memories of a past he left behind nearly a century ago. What secrets lie beyond his contract with the elusive Warner family, and why does this girl need protecting?

Meet the characters from Lineage, JJ Morris #1

Josephine “Joey” Morris
Joey is an academically over achieving sixteen year old that’s had a hard life. Since her father’s untimely death when she was eleven, Joey’s life has been… interesting, moving around constantly with her bitter mother and younger brother. She’s not shy but keeps to herself because of her constantly moving lifestyle. No reason to make friends if you’re leaving them.

In Lineage Joey finds herself welcomed into her new school and town by the popular kids. A group descended from the founding families of Portstown and well respected in the community, Joey fits in perfectly since the Morrises are one of the founding families. She spends most her time keeping the group known as “The Royals” under control, and her bestfriend Marty from doing anything too extreme.

After wild dog attacks start happening in town Joey uses her skills for research, and thirst for answers to aid a new group to town. A gang of supernatural hunters that are now facing a threat like no other.

Cameron Davis
The moody anti-hero with a host of secrets, Cameron is everything you expect from a tall dark and sexy man with extreme mood swings. Testy, violent, and full of rage from his past Cameron is a caring man, but in his own way. He’s from the school of “kill them all, who needs questions” especially in battle.

Cameron is currently working for the mysterious Warner family as one of their many resources, his current assignment: Protect Joey Morris from the supernatural attacks in Portstown. This proves to be a difficult task for him, Joey is different than any other living person but he doesn’t know why. Something about her draws him to her, and he’s in constant war between his duty and Joey’s strange draw.

In exchange for his work, the Warners aid him in completing his last task in the world of the living. Oh, did I mention—Cameron died almost a hundred years ago. In the world of Lineage Cameron is what’s known as a Defyer. A person with an intense will to complete a task left undone that their soul returns to their bodies. They are not really dead, and not really alive, but the is a price for remaining beyond your experiment date is a heavy one—one that Cameron is already feeling the effects of.

Martha “Marty” Adams
The ringleader of “The Royals”, a group of popular kids that rules Portstown High and maybe even more. Joey labels her as the “Queen” of their group and the town. Marty is hot headed, impulsive, brass, vengeful, at times cruel, and feels no shame about speaking her opinionated mind.

Marty is Joey’s best friend, but if you asked her she would call Joey a sister. In Lineage Marty, along with the other seven descendants of the founding families, are targeted by wild dogs murdering people. She faces down the supernatural animals more than once, but despite facing danger in the eye Marty is always looking for a way to lift the gloomy mood of death. Making sure her friends are upbeat and seeing the positive in their dark situation.
